Eamon Manworth harvests Belfry winter barley from what he believes to be his best field in Oakvale, Stradbally, Co Laois. Eamon managed a yield of 3.8t to the acre with a moisture of 12% and KPH of 68. The winter barley harvest has kicked off in most areas this week. High temperatures and sunshine has accelerated crop ripening, with grain moistures generally low accross the board. Reports suggest that straw is still quite green, however. \ Philip Doyle
