It's so nice to hear about food events back this year. From Bloom to Blas, festivals around the country are popping up.

And the most recent announcement is that The Big Grill is returning to Herbert Park in Dublin from 11 to 14 August.

It is always one of the best food events as chefs embrace the barbecue.

Practically everything at the event is cooked on fire, with everything from whole hogs to tomahawks, either flame-grilled or cooked slow and low.

Eating challenges

The ever-popular hot wing and chilli eating challenges will return, along with a jam-packed entertainment schedule including DJs and live music.

We’re looking forward to the smell and taste, to discover and learn about all kinds of barbecuing, grilling, smoking, vegetables, meats, delicacies and drinks.

In the past, it’s been hard to get tickets as the event sells out so fast, but this year the capacity has been increased to 30,000.

Early bird tickets went on sale on 1 March from €20, with the full line-up to be announced very soon.
