Shelves of gin at Aldi

A nice cold glass of gin and tonic is just the thing to keep you cool during this heatwave and Aldi has a selection of Irish gins worth checking out.

Jawbox Small Batch Gin (€29.99), hailing from Belfast, is a classic dry gin made with a range of local and exotic botanicals, including Belfast Black Mountain heather, and is distilled in a traditional copper pot still.

For a refreshing summer tipple, serve your Jawbox Small Batch Gin over ice with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime.

Alternatively, you can whip up a cooling gin mojito. Simply muddle mint leaves, lime juice and sugar syrup in a tall glass before adding Jawbox and topping with soda water.

Blush’d Irish Gin (€21.99) with its distinctive pink was created following the success of the Blush’d ready-to-drink range. A blend of Irish pot still gin and mixed berries, it’s perfect for sipping on a sunny afternoon.

Aldi is also home to Mo Chara Irish Gin, available in pink grapefruit which was awarded silver in the Global Gin Masters 2021, and the delicious pineapple flavour retailing at €19.99.

And Boyle’s Irish Botanical Gin (€24.99) picked up gold in the Global Gin Awards in 2021. Both gins are available all year in Aldi stores nationwide.

New Fever Tree flavours

If three-quarters of your drink is a mixer, then you want to get yourself a pretty good mixer.

Fever Tree is the number one premium mixer brand in Ireland. However, its thirst for innovation continues, recently launching two new flavours: raspberry and rhubarb tonic water and Mexican lime soda.

It's not just about gins, these mixers work with vodka, tequila or whiskey, as well as a non-alcoholic cocktail.

Each of Fever Tree’s premium tonic waters are created using quinine of the highest quality from the 'Fever Trees' of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which is developed to perfectly complement the various flavour categories of gin.

The new raspberry and rhubarb tonic water is crafted with the natural flavourings of sweet British rhubarb and juicy Scottish raspberries. Mexican lime soda is a low-calorie soda made with Tahiti lime from Mexico and pressed oil extract from the Japanese yuzu.

Fever Tree’s Premium Indian Tonic Water is an award-winning tonic water created using a handful of different botanicals, including oils from Mexican bitter oranges, to give a uniquely clean and refreshing taste and aroma.

Elderflower Tonic Water blends the essential oils from handpicked English elderflowers, while Mediterranean tonic water blends essential oils from herbs gathered from around the Mediterranean shores.

Fever Tree is available to purchase in SuperValu, Dunnes Stores and Tesco nationwide. For more information and delicious recipes, visit www.fever-tree.com.
