I got some land when I was told that 20 small square bales of hay sold for €460 in Kerry.
Fodder prices have been running ahead of other years but €23 each for small squares and it’s still December? That’s unheard of.
Just before I went panic buying, I was reliably informed that it was all for a good cause. As part of a local charity fundraiser, a local farmer donated the bales which were auctioned during the sheep sale in Kenmare Mart before Christmas.
