A farmer in Wales has detailed his devastation after losing over 270 of his sheep flock to floodwaters last week.
Kiyan Freedom said that on the morning of 4 September, water rushed into his fields in the space of a couple of minutes.
“It was a massive flood that our neighbours had never seen before in this area [Pontyates Llanelli, south Wales],” he said.
“The water was over three metres deep – we had to dive to rescue our sheep and lambs.
“With our bare hands, we rescued the animals one by one, in deep water with a visible heavy stream – which was unusual, as the river here is usually so narrow,” he said in a post on Facebook.

Freedom said that he called the Animal and Plant Health Association (APHA), 999 and the fire service. He said that nobody could help.
He said that his neighbour’s tractor was damaged helping to get sheep out and that his farm car is gone. Fences and feed were also taken out by the floodwaters.
The farmer and his wife have set up a GoFundMe page to go towards repairing what was damaged by the floods.
