Weather
Met Éireann has forecast a dry and bright start to Tuesday with isolated showers.
Cloud will build from the southwest through the morning with outbreaks of rain spreading northeastwards through the afternoon and evening, turning heavy at times, particularly in the southwest.
Highest temperatures will be 14°C to 17°C in light to moderate southerly winds, beginning to strengthen in the evening.
With the recent heavy spells of rainfalls, conditions at the Ploughing site are likely to be soft, so wellies and waterproofs will be needed.
Getting there
Gardaí have advised Ploughing punters to follow the colour-coordinated traffic management plan when travelling to the event.
They have also stated that sat-navs and map type applications should not be used closer to the Ploughing site - signs, gardaí and stewards should be followed.
What’s on at the Irish Farmers Journal stand
The Irish Farmers Journal stand will open on Tuesday morning with a live recording of our Farm Tech Talk – The Livestock Show with editor Jack Kennedy leading the panel on what is on farmers’ minds at Ploughing; from schemes to the nitrates derogation, looking back at harvest, to the price of cattle. There will also be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.
The first of our three health and wellbeing forums will take place from 11.30am. The initiative, which is supported by the Department of Agriculture, aims to highlight the challenges facing farming families and provide them with take-home solutions on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
To close our programme on Tuesday, we will welcome Irish Farmers Journal Junior’s 15 Rising Rural Stars – where three lucky winners will be walking away with the 2025 titles of Irish Farmers Journal Junior Rising Rural Star – the over-12 winner, under-12 winner and overall winner.
As always, there is a plenty to see and do across the Ploughing site and fields. Our top 12 stands to visit might provide some ideas.
And here are five things to know before you attend the Ploughing.
