There is more dry and sunny weather on the way over the weekend.
However it will be cold with sharp to severe frosts developing overnight, Met Éireann has said.
The frost may be slow to clear during the day, while wintry showers are also forecast, mainly in the north and northwest.
Friday
Any cloud and patchy drizzle in the southwest will clear on Friday morning, with sunny spells forecast in most areas.
Met Éireann has said that there will be scattered showers, mainly in Ulster and Connacht, with some falls of sleet or snow in Ulster.
It will be a cold day, with highest temperatures of just 2°C to 6°C.
Friday night will be cold, with frost and ice developing under largely clear skies.
“Scattered showers will continue, mainly for Ulster and Connacht, with further falls of sleet and snow,” Met Éireann said, adding that it will be largely dry elsewhere.
Lowest temperatures will range between -2°C and 3°C in light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresher for northern and northwestern coasts.
Saturday
There is plenty of sunshine forecast for Saturday. However, Met Éireann has said that scattered wintry showers will continue for Ulster and Connacht.
Highest temperatures are not forecast to rise above 6°C for the day in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.
Saturday night will bring long clear spells with wintry showers in the north and west and it will stay mostly dry elsewhere.
Lowest temperatures of -4°C to 0°C are forecast in light westerly breezes. Some fog or freezing fog patches may form.
Sunday
Sunday will be a cold day, with frost and ice slow to clear.
“Good spells of sunshine will occur along with well-scattered wintry showers for Ulster, Connacht and parts of west Munster, while staying largely dry elsewhere,” it said.
Highest temperatures of 1°C to 6°C are forecast in light to moderate west to northwest breezes.
It will be very cold on Sunday night and mostly dry, with some scattered wintry showers continuing in the north and west. Lowest temperatures of will dip to -4°C in parts.
Monday
Current indications for Monday suggest another cold day, with frost and ice slow to clear, leaving a predominately dry day with plenty of sunshine and with just isolated wintry showers for the north and northwest.
