A farmer has died while trying to source water from a river for livestock.
Gardaí and emergency services responded after receiving reports of a person in the water in the River Bandon at Dunmanway, Co Cork, on the evening of Wednesday 12 August.
“A male (aged in his 50s) was taken from the water and he was pronounced deceased.

“His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital mortuary where a post-mortem examination will be arranged. The coroner has been notified.
“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has also been notified,” gardaí said.
The HSA said it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation.
