Another 811t of skim milk powder (SMP) was placed in the EU Commission’s public intervention measure, the latest figures from the EU Milk Market Observatory (MMO) show.

To date, some 7,365t of SMP has been offered to the measure. Once again the Netherlands and Lithuania placed SMP in the measure last week. Five countries have SMP in the measure, while Ireland has yet to offer any SMP into public intervention this year.

There was again no SMP sold from intervention stocks at the latest tender, which concluded this week. Prices on offer ranged between €1,380/t and €1,634/t, well short of the current market price.
