Ballot papers were issued to each affiliated club on 16 March and have to be returned before 1pm on Tuesday.

The presidential candidates are Eamon Cassells, Athboy Macra, Meath, Paddy Delaney, Portlaoise Macra, Laois, Séan Finan, Castlerea Macra, Roscommon, and Michelle O’Callaghan, Knockraha Macra, Seandun, Cork.

The winner will succeed outgoing president Kieran O'Dowd and serve as president until 2017.

Vice president

Three vice presidents for Munster, the Northwest and Leinster will also be selected today.

There is just one candidate for the Munster position: Gerard Griffin, Mitchelstown Macra, Cork.Ray Gilmartin, South Leitrim Macra and Caroline O’Dowd, South Sligo Macra, are in the running for the Northwest vice presidency.

The Leinster candidates are Noel Duffy, Ferbane/Banagher Macra, Offaly, Odile Evans, Johnstown/Coolgreany Macra, Wicklow, and Aoife Lanigan, Kilkenny City Macra.

The proportional representation system is used to elect the president and vice-presidents. The first choice candidate is given a number 1, the second a number 2 and so on.

The results will be announced this evening.
