Kepak boss John Horgan called for the eligibility ceiling on TAMS supports available to pig farmers to be raised.

Speaking at the announcement of Kepak’s €15m investment in the McCarren Meats pork-processing facility in Cavan, Horgan said most pig farmers were too large to avail of TAMS support.

Farmers can avail of a 40% grant on a maximum of €80,000.

However, Horgan said this is insufficient for Irish pig farmers investing.
