Registrations of new tractors remained strong in February, according to the latest data from the Farm Tractor & Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA). With 236 new tractors registered, the market showed an increase of 14.56% compared with the February 2015 figures.

The year-to-date figures show a 12% increase in new tractor numbers compared with the first two months of 2015, giving a total sales figure of 627 new tractors this year. Tractor power continues to creep upwards, according to the FTMTA data, with the 101hp to 120hp power category accounting for over 40% of all new tractors sold, compared with 38% for all of 2015.

Used tractor registrations continue to drop as sterling is reasonably strong against the euro. There were 147 used tractors imported and registered in February compared with 170 in February 2015.
