Northern Ireland milk price jumps 10p/l in a year

Milk prices in the North have dramatically risen in the last 12 months, with a 10p jump cited.

In June 2016, prices stood at just 17.2p/litre. The June 2017 milk price was 27.1p/l.

Following a jump of 3p/litre last November to 26.5p/litre, milk price has remained steady over the last six months.

June’s milk price has been the highest in Northern Ireland for three years.

Production

Milk production in Northern Ireland has risen 3% in June 2017 compared with the same month last year.

The figures released by DAERA reveal total milk production until June 2017 was over 1.220m litres, up 2% from June 2016.
