The hottest week of the year has resulted in increased volumes of hay being made across the country.
While volumes have increased, the market has become one favouring the buyer rather than the seller. Good-quality round bales are going on the market for €22/bale, but at that price the hay is finding it difficult to find a home. Deals are being done on the field at €20/bale.
Small square bales are making between €2.50 and €3, but these are scarce.

Rain is forecast from Thursday onwards, so the hay bob might be put away for another while now.
