Leading factories have pulled base quotes by 5c/kg in the past week to €4.00/kg for steers and €4.10/kg for heifers as kill numbers remained stable.

Sellers have been resisting pressure though, with some negotiating higher prices and others waiting it out. Smaller plants remain on €4.05/kg for steers and €4.15/kg for heifers.

Demand remains strong for cows, with most O-graders making €3.40/kg, but some fetching up to €3.50/kg.

Bulls are trading around €4.05/kg for R grades, with negotiations yielding up to 5c/kg extra but becoming harder later in recent days.
