Macra na Feirme’s biggest event of the year, the Make It Meath Royal Rally 2017, is to take place in Co Meath on 27-30 October 2017.

The rally is Macra’s annual young farmers’ conference and this year is being hosted by Meath Macra na Feirme and Meath County Council, along with associate sponsor Keenan Alltech.

The weekend’s events will be centred in the City North Hotel, Gormanston, Co Meath.

The first event of the weekend will be the official opening on Friday night, 27 October, and the national final of the Irish Farmers Journal Know Your Ag table quiz will take place.

On Saturday, tours will take place in the morning. The beef tour will take in Kepak and Country Crest, while the dairy tour will take in Joe Leonard and David Moore’s farms, as well as a food safari through the heart of the Boyne Valley that will include Michael Finnegan’s goat farm and Slane Distillery.

iFarmer conference

The conference will take place on Saturday afternoon and the main topic for this year’s conference is ‘iFarmer - Technology in Agriculture’.

Saturday night will feature the national final of the Macra na Feirme Club of the Year and, on Sunday, the national final of the Bord Bia Beef and Sheep Stock Judging competition will take place.

The conference weekend will finish with a gala banquet on Sunday night, with entertainment from The Madisons and DJ till late.

Dermot Connolly, the chairman of the Rally committee said: “This is the first time Macra’s annual conference has been held in Co Meath. We are delighted to have the opportunity to host the largest young farmers conference in Ireland."
