Ryanair said in an announcement to the Irish Stock Exchange that McCarthy would join its board this month. Kerry Confirmed confirmed that he would become a non-executive director of the budget airline on 26 May.

McCarthy will leave his position as chief executive of Kerry Group in September, as announced earlier this year.

His appointment to the board of Ryanair is subject to approval by shareholders at the airlines’ AGM in September.

“Given Stan’s outstanding record as chief executive of Kerry Group plc he will, I believe, be a significant and valuable addition to our board,” said Ryanair’s chairman David Bonderman.
