Cattle were a good trade at Markethill, with demand for all classes of stock. An entry of 160 heifers met an excellent trade, with forward animals selling to £1,355 for a heifer weighing 650kg.
Forward heifers sold from a general price range of £2.14/kg to £2.24/kg for quality lots. Mid-weight heifers were also in demand, with quality lots selling from £2/kg to £2.26/kg, while plainer lots sold from £1.80/kg to £1.90/kg.
An entry of 210 bullocks included a large showing of heavy steers which sold to a top of £2.33/kg for 590kg at £1,375.

Top price was £1,400 for a 670kg animal, with several lots selling from £1,250 to £1,370. Mid-weight steers sold from £2/kg to £2.27/kg, with well-fleshed Friesian cattle selling from £1.45/kg to £1.54/kg. Mid-weight Friesians sold from £1.42/kg to £1.82/kg.
