The competition, run by the Irish Hereford Breed Society, asked entrants to guess the carcase grade of a 25-month-old Hereford cross steer.

Three winners of forecast the carcase grade competition

The 650kg animal, provided by Henry Parr from Castlecomer, was on display in the Hereford society tent at the Ploughing this year.

Competition entrants were vying to win one of three prizes of Lidl vouchers, each to the value of €500, sponsored by Lidl Ireland, Slaney Foods International and the Irish Hereford Breed Society. The awards were made following a reception at the headquarters of Slaney Foods International.
