A €26m TAMS for tillage equipment has at last been confirmed.
The scheme begins immediately as part of the sixth tranche of TAMS, and will remain open until the end of June, straddling the seventh tranche as well. Items included are sprayers, fertiliser spreaders, min-till cultivators and drills, grain storage and treatment equipment, potato harvesting and rainwater harvesting equipment and safety items.
“This measure includes capital investment measures which will assist the sector in supporting the use of the most modern and efficient equipment and facilities to enable the tillage farmer to improve competitiveness,” said Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed.

IFA president Joe Healy described the opening of the scheme as positive news for the sector.
“I very much welcome the scheme although it has been way overdue and put pressure on tillage farmers. This is a small bit of good news in what has been a very difficult period for farmers,” he said.
