Speaking to German media on Sunday, Simgar Gabriel, who serves both as the German vice Chancellor and the country's economy minister, said the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has failed due to lack of willingness from both sides to conclude a deal

“In my opinion the negotiations with the United States have de facto failed, even though nobody is really admitting it,” Gabriel hsa been quoted by broadcaster ZDF.

Gabriel added that the talks have failed “because we Europeans did not want to subject ourselves to American demands”.

America and the EU have been negotiating TTIP since July 2014 and so far concluded 14 rounds of talks. Gabriel said that despite those 14 rounds of talks, the two sides had failed to agree even one of the 27 chapters being negotiated.
