As of 12 April this year, the Department of Agriculture had received 118 official customer service complaints since 2015 to its quality service unit.
Figures obtained by the Irish Farmers Journal show that, to date, 19 of these complaints were regarding what the complainant advised was a delayed payment.
A spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture said: “The other complaints related to matters ranging from lack of privacy at a public counter to delays in replies to correspondence, difficulty getting through to the Department by telephone, and other customer service issues.”

As part of its customer service, the quality service unit operates a customer complaints procedure, which is for complaints specifically regarding customer service.
It does not cover appeals of actual decisions relating to the operation of a scheme or service provided by the Department.
