Applications under the Tillage Capital Investment Scheme to date represent 0.4% of the TAMS applications received by the Department.

No approvals for Tillage TAMS have been issued yet.

Out of the 11,780 applications received by the Department, 8,350 approvals have been issued. However, just 1,368 payment claims have been received and the total number paid stands at 847.

Over €10m has been paid out so far.

Approximately 500 farmers have not received payment due to IT issues where a small penalty applies. However, the system for payments in these cases is not ready yet.

Over €4.5m has been paid out to 111 farmers in the dairy equipment scheme, which represents 21% of the payment claims received. Over 2,300 approvals were issued under the dairy equipment scheme, which equates to 85% of applications.

Young farmers get €4m

Meanwhile, €3.8m has been paid out under the Young Farmer Capital Investment scheme to a total of 163 farmers. This equates to just over half of the payment claims received.

While 2,755 applications were received under that scheme, just 1,800 approvals have been issued so far.

Over €1.15m has been paid out to 111 farmers for Low Emission Slurry Spreading Equipment. Out of the 840 applications for this scheme, 710 approvals were issued and 150 payment claims were received.

The IFA will be making a submission on the 2017 amendment to the Rural Development Programme, to get additional items added to TAMS.

These include feed bins, underpasses, rubber slat mats, additional pig and poultry items as well as a relaxation of the five-year young farmer rule.

The seventh tranche of TAMS will close on 30 June.
