There are 717 sheds heated by biomass boilers across Moy Park's NI supply base.

Moy Park expects over 80% of its growers that currently have biomass boilers installed for heating poultry houses to have switched to fossil fuel heating by the end of the year.
In written evidence to a House of Commons select committee, Justin Coleman from Moy Park said that recent cuts to Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) tariffs in NI means growers “will find it an economic imperative” to switch to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Coleman said that there are 717 sheds heated by biomass boilers across the poultry processor’s NI supply base, and 65% of these buildings already have LPG heating fitted to act as emergency back-up. Of the remaining 250 sheds, he said that 20% have made contact about installing LPG heating systems. Coleman expects to see over 600 sheds using LPG rather than wood pellets by the end of the year, with the rest converting in early 2020.
