The 2 Johnnies Do America
The 2 Johnnies have accomplished a lot since they came on the scene about four years ago. They’re internet sensations, do live shows (when you could), started a podcast and now have their own TV show. This series follows them as they travel around the US on tour. As always, there’s plenty of laughs, along with a look at being Irish-American and interviews with some curious characters. It aired on Thursday night and the first episode is on the player.
The Young Offenders
If you’re looking to keep the laughs going, make sure to check out The Young Offenders. There’s a good spate of episodes on the player from the third series, which is packed with plenty more of the lads’ antics. They’re going to the debs, bringing up a baby and moving to Spain, all with hilarious consequences. If you liked the other series or the movie, this is for you.
The Post
Oscar nominee The Post is now on the player. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. It follows the true story of journalists at The Washington Post as they attempt to publish the infamous Pentagon Papers, relating to US government's involvement in the Vietnam War. Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper (having inherited it after the death of her husband), has to choose between when she knows and what she knows is right.
Louis Theroux
It’s Louis Theroux's ability to explore even the most bizarre topics with a calm head and empathy that makes him an exemplary documentary maker. There's a number of his documentaries currently on the player. They explore the lives of members of a church in America who picket soldiers’ funerals, women who sell sex for money, mothers in psychiatric units who live alongside their babies and more.
