The country is set to bask in warm weather this weekend, with temperatures expected to rise above 27°C on Friday and Saturday.

The forecast high temperatures have prompted Met Éireann to issue two status yellow high temperature warnings.

The first warning comes into effect for counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon and Tipperary at 12pm on Friday.

This warning will remain in place until 6am on Saturday.

On Saturday at 12pm a nationwide status yellow high temperature warning will come into effect and will remain in place until 6am on Sunday.

Met Éireann has said that night time minimum temperatures above 15 °C are expected.

Impacts

It has warned the general public that there could be water safety issues due to increased use of lakes and beaches and said that forest fires are a possibility due to the heat.
