The country’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products, Ornua, has announced Majella Darcy as the company’s new HR director.

The company said that Majella, who has worked with markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific, will be part of the company’s “ambitious growth plans”, which include expansion in new markets.

Irish brands such as Kerrygold and Dubliner Cheese are owned by Ornua and they currently trade in over 110 countries, including the US, China and Saudi Arabia.

The new appointment comes after 2015 ended on a high for the company. Two years after it opened its African headquarters, it opened a new Kerrygold packing factory in Nigeria.

Kevin Lane, CEO of Ornua, said the opening “offers an enhanced route to market for the additional forecasted milk volumes”.

Ornua plans to open new routes to market for Irish dairy produce and is currently developing a new global centre of excellence for Kerrygold in Mitchelstown, Co Cork.

The centre is expected to be open this summer and there will be over 50 new jobs.
