Some 108 farmers received GLAS payments, amounting to €377,165, on Friday.

The Irish Farmers Journal understands that a larger payment run, to around 300 farmers, is expected to go out on Friday 26 May.

Overall, 2,600 farmers remain in the GLAS system.

Around 1,200 of those have been contacted by the Department by phone or email, requesting documentation.

The remaining 1,400 GLAS cases are still under review, and the Department is working through them on a case-by-case basis.

Deadlines

Meanwhile, farmers in GLAS III have a raft of measures to complete ahead of the 31 May deadline, including sowing of wild-bird cover, protection of water courses from bovines, erection of bird, bat and bee boxes and the bee habitat action.
