The latest wool sale held by the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) saw prices rising by an average of 6p/kg to £1.07/kg (€1.23/kg), while the clearance rate also increased to 98% from 2.28m kilogrammes offered for sale.
It should be noted this is not the price offered to
farmers, with the season’s cumulative price standing at £1.16/kg (€1.33/kg) or 86p/kg (98c/kg) when costs are deducted.
The higher clearance rate is much improved on the mid-February sale, which secured a clearance rate of 75% of the 2.16m kilogrammes offered.
