Located at Newtown, Rathbride, The Curragh, this 206ac farm is located in the centre of Ireland’s bloodstock industry and just a stone’s throw from the famous Curragh racecourse. This was the second large farm to go to auction in Kildare in the last week, however, unlike it’s 205 acre counterpart in Ardclough, this did not sell at auction.

The land was offered in two separate lots of circa 88 acres and circa 118 acres, or in its entirity.

The first lot of circa 88 acres opened at €500,000 and after a few rounds of bidding settled at €750,000. The second lot of circa 118 acres started at €600,000 and was bid up to €1.1m. The entire parcel then opened at the sum of the first two lots – €1.85m. Once bid to €1.9m, no further bids were forthcoming and the property was withdrawn. Private negotiations have been ongoing over the weekend to try and reach a deal, but an agreement is yet to be finalised.

The property was guided at €2m to €2.5m prior to the sale, which was handled by Richard Brophy of Kildare-based selling agents Goffs Property.

A derelict cottage situated on the farm is in need of complete repair, along with a number of cattle and hay sheds. The land is a blank canvas, offering any prospective buyer a range of possibilities.
