3% decrease in number of Leaving Cert students sitting Agricultural Science
The number of students taking the Agricultural Science exam remains much higher than five years ago, and all those who sat Agricultural Economics passed.
The number of students sitting Ag Science this year is 32.6% higher than in 2010.

There was a 3.2% decrease in the number of students who sat the Leaving Cert agricultural science paper this year compared with last year, but the number who sat the paper in 2015 still represents an overall increase of 32.6% since 2010.
Some 7,672 Leaving Cert students sat the Agricultural Science paper this year – 6,067 at higher level and 1,605 at ordinary level. Of those who sat the higher level paper, 4.1% received an A1 grade. Just 0.1% of those who sat the ordinary level paper received an A1. This is slightly down on the number of students who received an A1 grade last year.
A total of 85 students sat the higher level Agricultural Economics exam this year. Not one of these candidates failed the paper and 1.2% got an A1.

Almost 58,000 students received their Leaving Cert results today. The State Examinations Commission has stated that the results obtained in most subjects are broadly in line with those of previous years.
