A 61-acre residential farm at Toames West, Macroom, Co Cork, came to auction in three lots. Lot one included 57 acres, lot two included the residence on circa 3.3 acres and the entire was offered in lot three.

Bidding opened on the residence at €100,000. Good interest saw this rise to €175,000. Attention then turned to the circa 57 acres, which opened at €310,000. With only one bid on this, the auctioneer brought the entire to the table.

Bidding on the entire began at €415,000 but quickly progressed to €470,000, at which point it was placed on the market. Bidding concluded with the hammer dropping at €490,000 for the entire. This surpassed the lots by only €5,000. The farm was sold in trust, with the purchaser believed to be local. The property was guided at approximately €450,000 prior to auction.

The residence on the farm is a 1,500sq ft traditional farmhouse in need of renovation. The land has not been intensively farmed of late and is under pasture. Entitlements to the value of over €4,300 were included in the sale.

The auction was handled by auctioneer Killian Lynch, Macroom.
