There has been a steady level of interest on the buildup to the forthcoming auction of an 87-acre non-residential farm at Tinode, Streete, Co Westmeath.

The property, which is described as a “good decent farm” was used over the years to graze cattle and sheep and would make a fine addition to any existing operation. The fact that it is being offered in one or three smaller lots, ranging from 23 acres to 33 acres, gives local farmers a chance to secure a nice block of land that is keenly priced at €5,700/acre.

Split by a cul de sac, the farmyard on 30.5 acres is situated across from the remaining 56.5 acres. The land has always been in grass, is well fenced and comes with a mains and natural water supply.

Laid out in nice tidy divisions, the land is reported to be of good quality, but 23 acres, in particular, is described as “excellent quality”.

Given the extensive frontage, it’s suggested the farm would make a lovely site for a house subject to the appropriate planning permission. Farm buildings are traditional, comprising a four-bay hayshed and some cut-stone outbuildings. For sale by auction on 3 December in the Greville Arms Hotel at 3pm, selling agent Murtagh Bros, Mullingar, will offer the property in its entire or in three lots that include the farmyard on 30.5 acres; 23 acres and 33.5 acres, respectively. The entire is guided in the region of €500,000.

Situated on the Westmeath/Longford border, interest from farmers in Longford and in other surrounding counties could not be ruled out.
