A fluent French speaker, Moran has been appointed as a Dawn Meats nominee as Dawn acquired a 49% stake in the French processor earlier this year with the option of increasing this shareholding to 70%. With 16 sites, Elivia is the second largest beef and veal processor in France, with 2,600 staff and revenues of over €1bn.
Moran served 10 years as secretary general, and has a deep knowledge of French agriculture, having served as Ireland’s agricultural attaché to France between 1989 and 1992. In May 2015 he was conferred as an Officer of the Ordre du Mérite Agricole by France’s ministry of agriculture in recognition of his role in promoting a positive relationship between France and Ireland in the agriculture and food sector.
