The 12 month old young bull Cannon Park Bestman R327 exhibited by Tom Reynolds, Knockadrinan, Bornacoola, Co Leitrim sold for the top price of the sale at €4700 to Eric Johnston, Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh. This bull also secured the Reserve Aberdeen Angus Championship in the pre-sale show and is sired by the successful AI bull Bunlahy John G (BJG).

Selling at €4500 was the Reserve Irish Angus Champion, Steil Lucky 271 exhibited by Joe & Cathal McCormack, Tulsk, Co Roscommon. This September 2014 born bull is sired by UK bred bull The Moss Kris L128.

Frank McKiernan, Corlismore, Co. Cavan sold his 18 month old bull, Drumcow Live Wire for €4200 to pedigree breeders Ben & Elaine Ryall, Fellfort, Co Cork. This bull boasted 5 stars terminal beef index and was a 2nd prize winner in the pre-sale show.

The Overall Irish Angus Champion of the show Creagga Leo 303, exhibited by Sean Neary, Strokestown, Co Roscommon sold for €3900. This bull is sired by Mogeely Joe and was born in July 2014.

The Overall Aberdeen Angus Champion was awarded to Shane McKiernan, Cavan, Co Cavan with Drumcarbin Electric P204. This December 2014 born bull failed to meet his reserve in the sales ring and was unsold.

Other principal prices in the Angus section included James Regan, Castelrea, Co Roscommon who sold Farmill Lad for €3500, Martin Hefir, Miltown Malbay, Co Clare who sold Killernan Long Black for €3000 and Pat & Finbarr Cahill, Shankill, Co Cavan who sold Shankill Mintrel P111 for €3000.

Overall, 35 Angus bulls sold to an average of just under €2500.

A small number of Herefords were on offer with a 72% clearance on the day. The top price of €2600 in the Hereford section went to Duibhgiolla Ted, exhibited by Kevin Diffley, Bornacoola, Co Leitrim. This 23-month-old bull is sired by Banner Dandy and was awarded the Hereford Championship in the pre-sale show.

The Reserve Hereford Champion, Loughrinn 1 Vancouver 428, exhibited by Coote Geelan, Carrick-On-Shannon, Co Leitrim sold for €2500.

In the Shorthorn section, the championship was awarded to Finlough Falco from Benjamin Lang, Ballymote, Co Sligo. This young bull is sired by Chapelton Typhoon and sold for €1900. The Reserve Championship went to Moygara Exile, exhibited by Michael McKeon, Gurteen, Co Sligo who failed to meet his reserve and remained unsold.
