Tractor sales up in Ireland bucking the trend across Europe.

FTMTA figures show that the tractor sales for September are up by four units compared with the same period last year. Overall, tractor sales are up 2% for the year to date. Slight improvement in milk prices and the setting of the grain prices should boost the confidence a little more. The FTMTA has requested that Minister Creed make some provision for the replacement and repair of sprayers given the deadline for the testing of all sprayers which are more than five years old on 26 November. The association believes most well-maintained sprayers will pass the test with a minimal amount of attention, but there will undoubtedly be a significant number of older machines which will require more substantial work or indeed replacement. As of yet, TAMS has not been introduced for tillage farmers as promised over a year ago.
