Tyrone Jim is Here To Stay

Jim Devine’s new album, We’re Here To Stay, shows the positive thinking behind Jim and the direction of his career. The 12-track collection was recorded at Spout Studios in Granard. This album is American country, with the exception of the old Johnny McCauley composition and evergreen favourite, Destination Donegal. Another feature of Jim’s album that’s worthy of special mention is the attention and credits given to the song writers.

Offaly shock at death of Paddy Buckley

The recent tragic death of Paddy Buckley from Pollagh, Co Offaly, touched hearts all over the country. Paddy (38) was a well-known musician on the local circuit and was on his way home from a gig in the Pollagh Inn when his car was involved in an accident. Paddy and his sister Martina played shows around the region for many years and country music formed the main part of their repertoire. There was an outpouring of emotion in the area as news of the tragedy spread. Huge crowds attended the funeral ceremonies as the community rallied around to show their support for his wife Margaret, their young family of six, and the extended family circle. Paddy was the second musician to die during the heavy rains of recent weeks. Earlier in December, Simon Scott (formerly of The Apaches and The Plattermen) died when his car got caught up in a flood on his way home from a gig in Glaslough, Co Monaghan.
