The average TAMS II grant approved for payment to farmers so far is €13,859, new figures show.

Some 2,280 TAMS II applications have been approved for payment by the Department of Agriculture.

In all, €31.6m has been paid to approved farmers, with a further €363m available over the lifetime of the current Rural Development Programme.

Uptake

Commenting on the payout to date, Minister Creed said: “The TAMS II Scheme has been very successful to date in terms of uptake, with the number of approvals issued exceeding 11,600.”

In all, there have been 15,393 applications to the scheme, with 11,674 of those approved.

Just over 3,060 farmers have completed their on-farm work and submitted their payment claims, while 2,280 of those claimed have been approved for payment.

Paperwork

Farmers in counties Cork, Tipperary, Galway and Kerry accounted for the highest numbers of applications to date.

Minister Creed urged farmers who have completed their approved works to submit their payment claims as soon as they are in a position to do so to facilitate early payment.
