Simmental

Judge Raymond O’Malley started off the Simmental section selecting his VK Agri All-Ireland Simmental cross heifer. This saw Gerry Lenehan, Easky, Co Sligo, securing first position with his 20-month-old Curaheen Buffalo-sired heifer. Kieran Mullarkey, Co Sligo, did the double in the Simmental championship, with his two senior heifers – sired by Milnafua Graduate and Milton Lord Tiffany – announced as champion and reserve champion.

Charolais

Champion Charolais went to Pat Finnelly, Ballinrobe, Co Mayo, with his January 2014-born Liscally ETI-sired heifer.

Limousin

Judge Paul Rainey was put through his paces in selecting a champion from a fantastic lineup of Limousin animals. Baileys Ice Princess was tapped forward as champion, closely followed by the reserve champion Ampertaine Commander bull from A and P Kelly, Co Westmeath.

Angus

Champion Angus went to Michael Horan, Knockmore, Co Mayo, for his September 2014-born bull, sired by Corrower Edmund.

Shorthorn

The prize for champion Shorthorn went to Noel and Lisa Dowd for their All-Ireland winning cow. The reserve champion went to the Flatley brothers, Co Galway.

Commercial champion

This went to the baby beef champion, owned by Aisling and Frank Burke, Limerick, with their Charolais x Belgian Blue bullock. Reserve champion went to TJ Duffy, Westport, Co Mayo, for his Limousin cross heifer by Millbrook Dartangan.

Handlers

The junior young handler category saw tough competition for the coveted red rosette, with Luke Barnett, Co Donegal, securing first position. The Bonniconlon lady handler competition was won by Maeve Regan, Co Roscommon.
