Ballymaguire Foods has announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art food plant, which will result in the creation of an additional 100 jobs. The investment is estimated to be worth over €4m per annum to the local economy.
The 100 new jobs, with positions for sales and marketing, food scientists and technicians, R&D, new product development, chefs and general operatives, will add to the current workforce of 150.

Based in Lusk, north Co Dublin, Ballymaguire Foods is the largest producer of chilled ready meals in Ireland. It produces 80 product offerings for the own-brand, Irish retail and foodservice industry.
Ed Spelman, managing director of Ballymaguire Foods, said it is an exciting time for the business.
“Our production capability will now grow to over 500,000 meals per week and this will mainly be used to fuel the opportunities we see in the UK and add to our existing business there,” he said.
Ballymaguire Foods was founded in 2008 by Michael and Gabriel Hoey, the brothers better known for their Country Crest business. Spelman, a trained chef with industry expertise, joined the business in 2012.
Ballymaguire, which prides itself on the traceability of its ingredients, currently sources 676t of beef, 2,600t of potatoes, 2,080t of vegetables, 780t of dairy produce and 572t of chicken every year in Ireland.
