Later than had been initially anticipated, the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) has started issuing farmers with herd profile reports as part of the Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP).
The ICBF issued 1,000 reports to test-case farmers last week to ensure that the information was understandable. A further 5,000 reports were issued on Wednesday. The expectation is that 20,000 reports will be with farmers by next week, with the remaining reports to be issued the week after that.
As well as the herd profile reports, the genotyping tags will also be issued from next week, as well as information on tagging.
