The ICBF has sent out letters to all participants in BDGP this week to outline what animals will be genomic-tested in 2017. There are a number of options:

  • Do nothing and test the animals ICBF has selected.
  • Change the animals you want to get tested and test the ones that you think are higher-priority animals in your herd.
  • There is an option to defer getting tags until you have more female calves on the ground in 2017. This will defer printing of tags until 2 April. If this option is selected, it will be the end of April when tags arrive. To choose any of these options, you need to log in to www.icbf.com and make the changes before this Sunday, 22 January.
  • Tags will arrive from 13 February and it is a good idea to get this job done before turnout as opposed to having to handle animals later in the year when out at grass.
