There was a reduced entry of cattle at Clogher Mart on Saturday due to difficult weather conditions.

With fewer cattle on offer, buyer competition was increased, resulting in an improved trade for all classes of cattle.

Beef cows sold to £1,806 for an 840kg Belgian Blue animal, with cow heifers selling to £1,628 for a 730kg Blue animal.

Friesian cows sold from 134p to a top price of 152p/kg for fleshed cows, with plainer lots selling from 82p to 110p/kg.

Bullocks sold to a top price of £1,590 for an 800kg Charolais animal, with £1,495 paid for a 720kg Limousin animal. Other noted prices saw bullocks making £1,025 to £1,445 for cattle weighing 500kg to 650kg.

Heifers sold to a top price of £1,350 for a 630kg Charolais animal, with £1,325 paid for a 650kg Limousin animal. Other noted prices saw heifers making £1,100 to £1,300 for animals weighing 580kg to 660kg.
