The Supreme Interbreed Beef Champion of the 2016 Bandon Show was awarded to Ardnacrusha Jasmine, exhibited by Donal Moloney, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare. This Limousin heifer had previously taken the championship spot in the Limousin section and went on to be crowned the beef champion of the show. The heifer was born in October 2014 and is sired by Wilodge Vantastic.

The Reserve Supreme Interbreed Beef Championship went to Trevor Dudley, Dovea, Thurles, Co Tipperary, with his senior Hereford bull, Glaslough Judge. Judge was born in March 2010 and is sired by Cill Cormaic Playboy. This bull is the senior herd sire at Kilsunny Herefords and it was his first outing on the summer show circuit of the season.

The overall Simmental champion was won by Adrian Bateman, Riverstick, Co Cork, with his senior show cow Clonagh Willow. Willow has enjoyed huge success at Bandon Show over the years having claimed several breed championships at this show. She was born in October 2008 and was shown with an autumn 2015-born bull calf at foot.

The reserve Simmental champion went to Gordon and Susan Salter, Dunmanway, Co Cork, with Mahona Guy. This young bull calf was born in September 2015 and is sired by Delfur Decider.

Other winners

There was a small entry in the Charolais section with the overall championship was going to James Drumm, Castleisland, Co Kerry, with Tobermaing Jim. This senior bull was born in October 2014 and is sired by Lisnagre Elite and is out of Tobermaing Doon Dawn.

Brownview Holly, exhibited by the Stanley Family from Bandon, Co Cork, won the supreme Belgian Blue champion. This senior heifer was by in September 2013 and is sired by the AI bull Harrison.

The Aberdeen Angus championship went to long-time Bandon show exhibitor, Albert DeCogan, Castlemartyr, Co Cork, with his heifer Mogeely Miylo P291. This heifer is sired by famed three-time All-Ireland Aberdeen Angus champion bull Rosemead Karona J957.

The reserve champion in the Aberdeen Angus section was won by the young bull calf, Carrigroe Mr Radar, exhibited by John and Frank Applebe, Clonakilty, Co Cork. This calf was born in September 2015 and is sired by Rothosheen Hugo.

The Parthenaise championship was awarded to Michael Dullea, Drimoleague, Co Cork, with the young heifer calf, Deelish Kilo Magican. This calf was born in November 2015 and, at just six months of age, beat many mature older animals to take the overall breed championship.

Dairy

In the dairy section, the overall Holstein Friesian championship went to Jerry and Diarmuid Murphy, Upton, Co Cork, with their homebred senior cow Lissaniskey Front Runner Laura. This multiple EX fifth-calved cow is sired by Morsan Frontrunner and is out Lissaniskey Grandprix Laura.

The special protein championship was won by Rickey Barrett, Ballinhassig, Co Cork, with his cow Laurelelm Fever Perfection. This four-year-old cow is sired by Crackholm Fever.

The Jersey championship was won by Daniel Lehane, Bandon, Co Cork, with the senior calved cow Clandeboyle Action Brunette. This cow was born in October 2010 and is sired by Forest Glen Avery Action ET.
