The beef trade has been hit by the uncertainty of Brexit.

It is the fluctuating sterling which has been causing the most disruption to the trade.

Steer prices have fallen 10c/kg to €3.90/kg this week. Heifer prices have eased 10c/kg to 15c/kg to a base of €4.00/kg and a top quote of €4.05/kg.

There are quotes of €3.00/kg to €3.10/kg for P+3 and O grading Friesian cows. In Northern Ireland, U-3 base quotes for steers and heifers are £3.22/kg to £3.26/kg or the equivalent of €4.07/kg to €4.12/kg including VAT.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Michael Creed has announced that he will convene a meeting on the beef forum in mid-July.
