In September Carbery announced to its four co-ops that cheese market returns justified a 2c/litre September milk price cut. However, in a written note to the co-ops, it also stated that the overall Carbery business was going to top up the deficit for September milk, so the price paid to farmers remained the same as that paid in August.

However, this price cut means that Carbery has gone below the price paid to farmers for a number of months.

Dairygold, too, set its October milk price this Tuesday. Just like last month, the co-op decided to keep it unchanged at 25.5c/l.

Glanbia earlier announced that it is holding milk price for September at 24c/l. Kerry Group and Lakeland Dairies have also held their respective milk prices for October, with Kerry holding at 26c/l and Lakeland holding at hold at 26.25c/l.
