Each demo will be made up of three parts:

  • Two-year-old calving – Is it realistic? This will focus on the key areas around two-year-old calving and the important target weights to be met, as well as the management required to make it successful.
  • Mastering dairy beef. This will look at calf-rearing targets, growth targets and the management required to make dairy beef systems profitable.
  • Finishing school. We will look at different aspects of finishing animals, including achieving correct fat cover and staying within market specifications.
  • Three demos will take place at 10am, 12pm and 2pm each day. A poll is available on www.farmersjournal.ie/ploughingdemo that can be completed by readers over the next two weeks to form the conversations at the demos. Sheep and winter feed demos will also run over the three days.
