In the Commercial Championship, continuing his winning streak this summer, Rocky, an Empire-sired bullock, owned by Luke Barnett, Raphoe, Co Donegal, was tapped forward as overall champion, before later being crowned Interbreed champion of the show. Reserve commercial Champion was awarded to Clive & Roy Stevenson’s Fury Action-sired heifer calf. This Charolais X calf later went on to win the €1,500 Connacht Calf Championship, in a highly competitive class.

Simmental Championship

The Simmental Championship judged by Tom Cox, Strokestown, Co Roscommon, saw Tawley Gretta, owned by Kieran Mullarkey, Grange, Co Sligo, tapped forward as breed Champion. This January 2015-born heifer, sired by Monaduff Snorter, was later made Reserve Interbreed Champion of the show. Reserve Champion Simmental was awarded to Fearna Destiny, a Hercules-sired cow with her Curaheen Vio-sired heifer calf at foot. Destiny later went on to win the best purebred Suckler cow and calf interbreed competition.

Charolais Championship

In the Charolais section, judged by Joe Hargroves, Co Laois, the Western Heifer Calf Final Champion was selected as overall Breed Champion – Ballinagrogy Martina, an April-born heifer, owned by Marty Merrick from Crossmolina, Co Mayo, and sired by Rancard. In Reserve, the Male Western calf champion, from the Bostonia Herd, Bostonia Lawrence, a September-born, Elgin Davinci son.

Limousin Championship

Champion Limousin of the show was awarded to the Moore Family, Kilmeena, Co Mayo, with Buckfield Leonie – a Cerberus-sired March-born heifer calf, out of a Commander dam. Reserve Limousin Champion went to Michael Oliver, Swinford, Co Mayo, for his September-born heifer, Lisnacrann Lady Naomi, sired by Roundhill Saturn.

Belgian Blue Championship

The Belgian Blue Championship saw the Davis family, Williamstown, Co Galway, winning both Champion and Reserve. Champion, Carraneeney Kimberley, a March-born heifer calf is sired by Canadian Club. Reserve champion, a March-born bull calf, Carraneeney Kuno, sired by Canadian Club.

Shorthorn Championship

Tapped forward by Judge Niall Faughan, Mohill, Co Leitrim, as Shorthorn Champion was Rockville Nancy, owned by Genevieve Cox, Strokestown, Co Roscommon, and sired by Rockville Rowan.

Angus Championship

Champion Angus title went to Dunlaveymore Marley, owned by Ray and Michael Gallagher, Charlestown, Co Mayo, and sired by Bohey Jasper.
