Conor McGregor has announced his plans to retire from the UFC in favour of an even riskier pursuit – beef farming.

Nicknamed “The Notorious”, McGregor has grown bored of fighting and wants a new challenge.

“I’ve reached the top of my game and there is nowhere else for me to go,” said the Crumlin native, who has earned worldwide fame and a net worth of over €20m as a UFC fighter.

“People have told me there is no money in beef farming – I look forward to proving all my doubters wrong. Failure is not an option for me.”

The mixed martial arts fighter has purchased 250 acres of land in the Midlands, where he will operate a bull beef system, keeping Charolais cattle.

“I just like the look of them. They are powerful beasts, just like me,” he said. “My cattle will be the best in Ireland, the best in the world.”

Aware that the industry he is entering is more volatile than his previous trade, the stylish fighter also revealed plans to launch a line of farm-friendly suits to supplement his income.

“Beef farming is all about hustling, and that is what I do best,” he said. “And I reckon Irish farmers need a serious kick up the arse when it comes to style. You won’t see me in a pair of overalls.”
