Project 2:

Upcycled wardrobe

An old wardrobe

Sandpaper (medium grade)

Sugar soap and a cloth

Undercoat (I used Colourtrend undercoat)

Water-based chalkboard paint ( I used Rustin’s quick dry blackboard paint)

Paintbrush or roller

1. Clean the wardrobe with sugar soap and a cloth. Remove the handle.

2. With a sander or sanding block, sand the wardrobe with the grain of the wood.

3. With a paintbrush or roller, paint the wardrobe with two layers of undercoat, leaving to fully dry between each coat.

4. With a paintbrush or roller, coat the wardrobe twice with the water-based chalkboard paint. I used Rustin’s quick-dry blackboard paint. Leave to fully dry in between each coat.

5. You can paint the inside of the wardrobe also, if you wish, with Satinwood paint. I used Colourtrend “French Mustard”, sanding and undercoating before I painted.

6. Once the wardrobe paint is fully dry, replace the handle.

7. You can now use chalk to write and draw to your heart’s content!
